Explorer Unit
We are a network of 14-18 year-olds and adult volunteers who have a lot of fun doing a whole range of lively, adventurous, creative, character building or just plain crazy activities - and making fantastic friends in the process. We have the backing of the largest youth organization on the planet - the Scout Association - which gives access to more opportunities than you can ever take up in one life-time, so we offer you chance to participate in a flexible way that suits your life style. You can chose to come away just a few weekends a year, or dedicate every moment of your spare time to taking up new hobbies and gaining a variety of skills that will help you make the best out of life. We meet where it’s happening. The climbing wall, sports centre, rock club, river, school hall, woods, bowling alley, camp site, mountain hostel, curry house, NEC - take a look at the programme and activity pages, you’ll get the idea. Collaboration with other Units and membership of the Scout Association means high quality, affordable activities - and lots of people to do them with. Young Leaders scheme Of immense value are the leadership skills and experience gained in taking real responsibility for running activities with younger people. The Unit is linked with 2nd Monkspath Scout Group, whose success is driven by a large number of young people in key leadership roles. Young Leaders are supported with a training programme tailor-made for their role and their own personal development. Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Another great opportunity we can offer. If you’re developing a couple of decent hobbies, and you’re helping the community by being (for example) a Young Leader, then why not have this recognized with an Award? And the best bit is that we will help you and your mates organize yourselves to go off independently on your own expedition. To find out more, contact . |
