The Centennial World Scout Jamboree will be held in the UK in 2007 (Chelmsford). The Jamboree will involve up to 40,000 Scouts aged 14 to 18 from around the world camping and 15,000 visitors a day. The Jamboree is larger than the Olympic Games with more people taking part from more countries, for longer.

Rock Climbing weekend at the Scout Mountaineering Centre in North Wales. The Hafod hostel, with bunk-rooms, common rooms, etc, is right amongst the rugged mountains of Snowdonia, with crags to climb on it's door-step. As well as the activity itself, these are good, sociable weekends.

Summer Camp will be in Wales, near the Gower Peninsular where we’ll spend three afternoons surfing, and time on the beach. We’ll also go to Oakwood Theme Park (where there’s a wicked wooden roller-coaster), and do other activities such as climbing, abseiling, archery, air rifle shooting, orienteering, and the muddiest obstacle course this side of the known Universe. Goff's 1-day 1st aid courses are excellent - he's a retired police-man with decades of experience, who delivers knowledge at maximum speed, without any time-wasting messing about, and in one session covers the Scout's "First Response" Syllabus plus everything else it's sensible to know as a scouter.

Young Leaders / Explorers (over 16 years old only). Pre-summer-camp ultra-chilled weekend. Not all the beer got drunk at last years' summer camp, and had to be taken home. Hence this year the explorers/young leaders are invited to come two days' early to make sure that this gets done, and lots of fire wood gets burnt. Oh yeh, and the tents get pitched (we should just be able to squeeze this into a whole weekend). And maybe we find the best beach or fun-fair for the scouts.
